2023 CROQUET NETWORK POWER LIST

As part of our end-of-year traditions, Croquet Network is excited to present our 2023 Top 25 Croquet Power List as a standalone article on this New Year’s Eve. Congratulations to Dave Trimmer Mallets for topping our list for the year as the most popular keyword on Croquet Network. Trimmer Mallets finished #2 in 2022 just behind Matthew Essick, who slipped to #3 in this year. Overall, the list tells a story of the croquet year, with plenty of surprises.

Burridge is New WCF President

Ian Burridge of Wales won the recent World Croquet Federation (WCF) election for the position of WCF President and will serve from January 1, 2020, through December 31, 2023. Burridge received 42 votes over 18 votes for Australia’s Mike Cohn to win the election. The WCF reported that 60 votes were cast of out 62 possible votes.

Ramsis Continues as WCF President

Amir Ramsis, the President of the Egyptian Croquet Federation and the current WCF President, was re-elected to serve as President from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2019. Two candidates were nominated.  Amir Ramsis, who was nominated by the Egyptian Croquet Federation, received 38 votes.  Ian Burridge, who was nominated by the Welsh Croquet Association, received 19 votes.

Following the re-election of Ramsis as WCF President, he ceased to be a candidate for an elected position on the WCF Management Committee.  In consequence, there were three candidates for three places on the MC. Accordingly, Luis de Gortazar, Mike Orgill and Samir Patel are deemed to be elected to serve on the MC from  January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2019.

Solomon Trophy Update: US Leads 8-5

Great Britain drew first blood on the final day of the Solomon Trophy test. Ian Burridge defeated Jeff Soo +17, +15 to cut the U.S. lead to 8-5. Currently, Great Britain is leading in three of the five singles matches in progress.
