Morning Coffee: CWO Interviews Soo

Jeff Soo in action during the 2013 USCA GC Nationals

CWO INTERVIEWS JEFF SOO: An extended interview with American legend Jeff Soo has been posted on the the Croquet World Online site. Lots of good stuff. Here's an excerpt before you jump in:

Golf Croquet is a boon, nothing mixed about it. The health of croquet isn't measured by how many dues-paying members there are, but how much croquet is being played. Golf Croquet has a much broader appeal than Association Croquet or American rules. Maybe if the USCA put more work into the development Golf Croquet events we'd get more members. Right now there's very little on the calendar.

2015 USCA GC CHAMPIONSHIP: The USCA now has the 2015 USCA GC National Championship listed on the 2015 calender. The event is scheduled for June 24-27 and will be held at the Lake Toxaway Country Club in North Carolina.

2014 USCA SENIORS MASTERS RESULTS: Peter Just took the Seniors singles title while Fred Jones claimed the Masters singles title. (FINAL ORDER)

CNZ YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: The New Zealand Herald is reporting that Croquet New Zealand has a youth development program under way directed by sport development officer Greg Bryant. The article discusses a slightly new twist on marketing croquet. Bryant discussed the opportunity for new players to progress quickly in the sport. There was also some perspective on the growth of Croquet New Zealand:

"While we're getting 10 per cent new members each year across the board, which is good comparatively to other sports, we're losing 9.9 per cent every year. We haven't got a sustainable membership so there's quite a drive on to develop youth croquet."

THE LIVERPOOL CLUB PROJECT: James Hawkins recently provided an update on his quest to build a croquet club in Liverpool on the CWO website.
