Croquet Week continues on with the annual planning meeting on Tuesday. Friday night is the annual awards ceremony, but the main event is the Club Teams Championship which kicks off Wednesday.

The USCA National Club Teams Croquet Championships will be held on the lawns at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach, Florida on March 12-16.  Ninety players from clubs throughout the United States are expected to compete in five flights in this doubles only event on the Center’s courts. Teams not only compete for victory in their respective flight but are also competing for the coveted Lyons Trophy, which is awarded to the top clubs in three divisions.

Last year’s Championship winner’s Ben Rothman and Jim Butts will not be playing this year leaving the door open for a new Champion. Early predictions favor John Young of Bermuda and Doug Moore of New York who will be representing the New York Croquet Club. Last year’s Division One Lyon’s Trophy went to the National Croquet Club of West Palm Beach who is favored to win again this year due to the large numbers they are able to field. Local pro, John Osborn, will be the Tournament Director.

The USCA posted dates for the 2014 Golf Croquet National Championship. The event will be held December 9-13 at the Mission Hills Croquet Club in Rancho Mirage, California. More details here:

Croquet World Online has a piece that looks at the Adelaide Fringe festival and the "Royal Croquet Club."

In 2014, as it happens, one of the largest downtown venues, right in the middle of Adelaide, is themed as a croquet lawn party, complete with Pimms and Heineken and numerous other sponsors, with a tiny croquet lawn in the middle, beyond a gate labeled ROYAL CROQUET CLUB. Croquet figures fifty feet high with mallets make the point unmistakably in Victoria Square, which is smaller in total area than a football field.
