Morning Coffee: Mitsubishi Opens, Midwest Photos and a Mascot

Progress continues for the Mitsubishi Opens as the following have advanced to the knockout round:

  • 5/7 Samir Patel, James Death, Aaron Westerby, Dave Trimmer, Tony Le Moignan
  • 5/8 Ben Rothman, Stephen Mulliner, Robert Fletcher

The event is in the midst of 10 rounds of swiss play with players needing five wins to advance to the knockout. A full update is available on the Croquet Association website.

For USCA members, the Western Regional (Kirkland, WA - 8/26-29) entry form is now available behind the membership wall. In addition, the Nine Wicket National Championship (Shawnee, KS - 9/17-19) form appears to have begun circulation through e-mail.

The 10th Annual Pelican Ridge nine-wicket tournament entry form is now available on the Missouri Croquet Association website. The event will be held July 31 in Warrensburg, Missouri and will feature both singles and Waterford doubles nine-wicket play. Entry is $20 (or $10 for new players).

Australia has named a crocodile as their team mascot for the MacRobertson Shield competition. The crocodile will be named, "Eddie the Hunter KRIMPS GTS." Please feel free to clarify the meaning behind that name in the comments.
