AC Worlds-Eight Players Left Standing

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA -- As 16 players went into battle on Thursday in best of five action, only two players were able to pull off "upsets" in the 2016 WCF AC World Championship. It happened to be the two Americans, David Maloof and Danny Huneycutt that went against the rankings. All of the other matches went according to the proper math, although #10 Samir Patel (ENG) had to go the distance to hold off #42 Jose Riva (ESP) 26otp-13, 22-26, 9-26tp, 26tp-20, 26-5. David Maugham (#7) (ENG) also had to go to five to hold off #26 Chris Williams (WLS) as did #8 Stephen Mulliner (ENG) in his match against #25 Stephen Forster (AUS).

2015 CA Open: Chapman vs Fulford

The 2015 Open Championships being held at the Surbiton Croquet Club in London this week has successfully narrowed down to Paddy Chapman and Robert Fulford for the finals to be held on Sunday, July 15, 2015. Chapman made is way by going through Robert Wilkinson (2-1), Ben Rothman (2-1), David Maugham (2-0) and James Death (2-0). Death was on his own path prior to facing Chapman as he knocked off Luc Berthouse (2-0), Jose Riva (2-0) and Reg Bamford (2-1).

Fulford had a bye in the first round of the knockout then took out Robert Hurst (2-0), Stephen Mulliner (2-0) and Jamie Burch (2-1).

Americans Rothman and Hurst after making the final knockout had the unique distinction of being eliminated by the two finalists.

Could you dream up a better croquet month? After kicking things off with a Solomon Trophy battle at Hamptworth, the schedule rolled right into what is considered the most prestigious annual croquet tournament -- the British Opens. And this year, we were treated to the ultimate singles final with Reg Bamford taking on Robert Fulford. Bamford took his eighth singles open title with a –18tp +26sxp +17 +26sxp (3) over Fulford. Bamford and Rutger Biejderwellen also took the doubles title with a +10, +18 win over Mark Avery & David Maugham +10 +18.
