It has been reported on the Nottingham List that Bob Alman passed away on March 17, 2022, after a short illness. Alman was a dedicated organizer and promoter for the sport of croquet. He was inducted into the World Croquet Federation Hall of Fame in 2020.
Originally based in the San Francisco area, he worked to build the San Francisco Croquet Club and also the Oakland Croquet Club as the sport developed in California. He was also a co-creator of the San Francisco Open. Later he shifted to Florida and became the first manager of the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
He is probably most known for the Croquet World Online website which he founded in 1996. He continued to work on the website until shortly before his death.
