Today, we'll take an early look at how Team USA and Great Britain stack up for the 2015 Solomon Trophy test coming up in May in North Carolina. Some notes are below, but here is how it breaks down:
As would be expected, the stats show Great Britain as the clear favorite. The one that jumps out though is Great Britain has four players ranked higher than the top US player. Here are a few more:
- Great Britain will bring 10,734 cumulative games of experience to the test as opposed to 4,051 for the US.
- The US has four players closing in on 1,000 career games with Jeff Soo as the leader with 961. However, Britain has five of six players with more than 1,000 games.
- I see why they call him the "Beast." David Maugham has 3,634 games played and 1,449 triples. Stephen Mulliner follows on the career list with 2,854 games and 861 triples.
- Ben Rothman ranks third in this group for career triples with 404 and Danny Huneycutt has the fourth spot, which should be considered a bright spot for the US team.
- In fact, for 2014 Rothman leads the group with 68 triples. However, Jamie Burch, Pete Trimmer and James Death all rank ahead of the next US players for triples in 2014.
- Rothman holds the highest career winning percentage for the group at 73.1%, with Maugham just behind at 72.2%.
- Burch had the top winning percentage for 2014 at 74.0% with Rothman just behind at 73.9%.
