Morning Coffee: Fargo South Claims Midwest High School Title

Visit the Store The 2011 Midwest High School Croquet Championship was held this past Friday night at the Sports Bubble in Fargo, North Dakota and Fargo South came out as the champion in a tight race. Over 50 students participated in the championship and about 120-150 spectators were on hand to watch the action. The format was nine-wicket cutthroat style with 45 minute time limits. Final standings -- 

First Place- Fargo South: 25.5 points
Second Place- Oak Grove: 24.5 points
Third Place- West Fargo: 24 points

North Dakota State Champions: Fargo South
Minnesota State Champions: Moorhead High School
Coach of the Year: Cindi Bondy from Fargo South High School

Oklahoma Wesleyan won the team golf croquet college national championship as part of the overall national championships played at the Merion Cricket Club in Haverford, Pennsylvania in mid-April.

The Dyffryn Croquet Club in Wales is planning to celebrate it's 25-year anniversary with a recruitment drive.  The club will hold two six-week courses for beginners, one on a Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. (starting May 11) and one on Thursday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. (starting May 12). The Annual Whack and Roll Charity Croquet event in Harleysville, Pennsylvania is scheduled for June 3-4. Team entries (two-player) are $100 and it looks like the event is on target to raise $20,000 for local charities. More information available at http://www.mhep.org/index.php?id_pag=25
