Young Players Ready For ACWC Exhibition

Younger players are setting a new tone for elite level Association Croquet with a special exhibition game open to visitors and press at noon on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.  

Some, like 17-year-old football player Matthew Essick from North Carolina, grew up in croquet families.   Others, including the two teenagers from New Zealand, learned croquet at secondary schools in a program sponsored and run by the country's national croquet organization. They are in West Palm Beach to compete at the WCF World Assocation Croquet Championship next week and will go up against a field of 80 players from 13 different countries.

2015 USCA Selection Eights Eve

WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- It's Selection Eights eve and all through West Palm Beach, AC players are snug in their beds with visions of triples dancing in their heads. Anyway, the news of the day is that the National Croquet Center now has lights available for courts one, two and three. Sources here tell me that they would like to add more. No matter what, it would seem to be a huge benefit to scheduling overall at the Center.

National Croquet Center: Sweetser is New GM

The Croquet Foundation of America (CFA), has announced the promotion of Marie Sweetser to the position of General Manager of the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. For the time being, Sweetser will also continue her duties as Membership Director for the resident National Croquet Club, and Manager of Guest Services for the Center. Sweetser, a longtime Florida resident and Pittsburg native, is the former owner of Golden Dart Fast Italian Jet Yachts of Italy. She spent years handling large luxury yacht sales and service for the Codecasa Shipyards of Viareggio, Italy. After returning to the US, Sweetser spent several years in the public relations department of the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens. Marie spent many years living between residences in Switzerland and Milan, Italy. As a licensed Florida Realtor, she also enjoys working with high-net-worth international clients coming to the Palm Beaches from throughout Europe.

2015 USCA Selection Eights Process

The USCA has posted the initial list of applicants for the 2015 Selection Eights event to be held October 22-25 at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. There is a limit of 40 players who will participate in the 2015 Selection Eights with a possibility of a sixth group. If that group is formed, all players will be notified. Below is a list of the 40 players followed by the players in the sixth group and waiting lists. The non-top forty players lists are in D-Grade order which will also be the order players move from the these lists to the top 40. In years past there have been eight to twelve players drop out.

USCA Club Teams Championship Draws Big

The largest croquet team event of the year will be held during Croquet Week at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, March 13-17. The Club Teams Championships will feature team competition in at least four flights with croquet clubs competing from across the country and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  More than 130 players will be competing.
