TIGHT GP RACE FOR 2014: With 2014 in the books, that brings another USCA Grand Prix to a close. The standings show that Jeff Soo edged out Ben Rothman with 22,225 points to Rothman's 19,515. Based on Rothman's three national titles (USCA Singles, GC Singles and GC Doubles) versus Soo's two titles (AC Singles and USCA Doubles), it could again spell controversy for the USCA which uses the Grand Prix to select the USCA Player of the Year.

Morning Coffee: USCA Grand Prix Surprise

If you haven't dialed into the USCA Grand Prix race lately, you might be in for a bit of a surprise. Danny Huneycutt currently has 30,418 points to lead the race while Ben Rothman has second place with 27,280 points.  That should change slightly as the Association Doubles National Championship results have not yet been submitted and Rothman took a win there with partner Doug Grimsley. However, it's unclear whether or not that would actually bump Rothman into first.

This weekend I was checking out digital editions of back issues for Croquet Network on the Yudu site. When I did a search for croquet, I detected a beautiful new croquet magazine delivered through my same host at no charge to readers. And in fact, it was immediately clear that this new magazine was superior in content and design to Croquet Network. But wait, it's not new. Morning Coffee: Huneycutt Leads USCA Grand Prix

Visit the Store Maine's Big Lobster Croquet Tournament will be held from Tuesday, September 6, through Sunday, September 11, 2011. The opening reception and BBQ will be on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. and play will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The finals will finish before 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.  The format will be the same as all previous "Big Lobsters" -- nine wicket doubles and six wicket singles, USCA sanctioned.  Details and entry forms will be sent out later, but mark it on your calendars and come join us here on the coast of Maine for a fun week of croquet in a beautiful setting. The 2009 USCA Grand Prix results are in and Croquet World has a fantastic article with photos breaking down the season. Ben Rothman took the overall Grand Prix title and also finished first in both the doubles and singles standings.
