Wisconsin Returns to the Shield Championship

Teams from Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin descended upon the Milwaukee Croquet Club for a weekend of friendly and spirited golf croquet competition at Lake Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After a meet and greet and practice on Friday evening, Saturday’s matches paired Illinois against Minnesota and Indiana and Wisconsin. The format was a best of 10 game test featuring an opening doubles game followed by players playing each of the other three opponents in singles games.

Missouri: Defenders of the Shield

The mighty Missouri squad of Billy Bob Breeden, Steve Jackson and Matt Smith defended their 2017 Croquet Network Golf Croquet States Shield title yesterday at the Kactus Creek Croquet Club with a 7-3 win over the visiting Wisconsin team.

The day started with a good omen as Smith pulled off an impressive angled jump shot at hoop one to get Missouri out to a 1-0 lead in the opening doubles game against Nels Bjorkquist and Cheryl Bromley. As the game moved past hoop four, Missouri led 3-1 when Smith's partner Jackson drained hoop five from the south boundary for a 4-1 lead.

States Shield Final: Ready to Rumble

The 2017 Croquet Network States Shield Championship final is set to roll out this Saturday at Kactus Creek Croquet Club in Parkville, Missouri as the Missouri state GC squad will host the visiting Wisconsin team. The projected team line-ups and are as follows:

States Shield: Missouri and Wisconsin Advance

After a sweltering two days of action, the 2017 Croquet Network States Shield Championship is set with both Missouri and Wisconsin easily advancing. The mighty Missouri squad easily rolled Kansas 9-1, while Wisconsin won 7-3 in a test that seemed to have a little more balance.
