Updated on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 08:20AM by Registered CommenterCheryl Bromley

This evening as I am writing this, there is still much that is going on behind the scenes to set up the Knock Out Draw, Plate matches, and venue allocations and start times. There were several playoff matches going on into the late afternoon that had a bearing on all of these things being finalized.

Sherif Abdelwahab and Mohammad Kamal continued to put in impressive performances today with both players now 7-1 with one block match remaining.

In Abdelwahab's second match of the day, he faced George Coulter, age 20, the older of the two brothers from New Zealand who are absolutely fantastic shooters! The "young guns" are well-coached, composed and wonderful young men

Bromley GCWC #04: Day 2 Blocks

Updated on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 04:43PM by Registered CommenterDylan

It was an absolutely beautiful warm day during this last week of summer here in Melbourne. USA players had a good day on the lawns with Sherif Abdelwahab posting his third win (and currently in the middle of his fourth match at the time of this entry [He won -- DG]).

Matt Griffith notched a win against Sweden's Joakim Norback and, in an exciting three-game match, Mohammad Kamal took down Australia's John Arney to add another win to his record. The photo above shows Kamal's hampered jump shot attempt at the 13th hoop in game two.

Bromley: GCWC Block Play Begins #03

Block play is underway! Sherif Abdelwahab had a good day with two wins over Charlie Sharpe of Australia and Evan Newel of Ireland. Mohammad Kamal also won one of his two matches with a solid win over Mostafa Eissa of Egypt. Matt Griffith came up against the number one and two ranked players in his block and I'm sure didn't go down without a fight.

Bromley: GC World Championship Journal #01

Greetings from Melbourne! Today was a fun day at the Victorian Croquet center as the doubles portion of the Ramsis Cup was completed. It was great to reconnect with players from all over. The Ramsis Cup originally began as a match between Egypt and a Rest of the World (RoW) and has been played twice previously in 2008 and 2016. Both have been won by the RoW by a narrow margin of 11 matches to 10.

Abdelwahab in Control of US GP

Updated on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 07:47PM by Registered CommenterDylan

Looking at the current USCA Grand Prix standings, it appears as though Sherif Abdelwahab is on his way to claiming the 2016 race. The standings below were pulled from the USCA website on December 18, 2016, and show that Abdelwahab is just ahead of Stuart Lawrence. From our last glance at the end of August, the positions are exactly switched.

Yesterday's final day of the 2016 USCA Golf Croquet National Championship featured strong winds as several finals matches played on the the lawns of the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. For the main event, Stephen Morgan seemed relatively comfortable battling the conditions as he cruised to a 7-3 win in game one against Matt Griffith. But Griffith came back strong in game two to snag a 3-1 early lead.

Player Journal: 2016 US GC Nationals D2

The second day of the USCA's 2016 Golf Croquet National Championship at the National Croquet Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, was just as jam-packed with action as day one. In fact, doubles games under the lights were still under way when I left the NCC around 8:00 p.m. And there did seem to be one player protesting the extended action.
